As for being able to boot Ultrix, you don't mention which system you are running from. The boot command you gave should work fine for a boot command run on a DS2100/DS3100 system booting off of a disk whose SCSI ID is 1. However, if you are booting off of a DS5000/200 (or any of the follow-on products coming soon to a theatre near you) the command string will look like this: >>boot 5/rz1/vmunix -a Where 5 is the id of the Base System SCSI TURBOchannel option (the one on the CPU module...it could be 0, 1 or 2 if you were using added SCSI host adapters), rz1 is the disk drive SCSI ID (following your example) and the -a variant will bring it up multi-user. You shouldn't have any trouble booting from alternate expansion boxes or toggling between operating system variants (I do it all the time here in my lab depending on which Third Party Hardware vendor has customized which disk for their particular product). I hope that this helps.
