Wednesday, 23 April, 1941

At an "America First" rally in New York City, Charles Lindbergh speaks to a
crowd of 30,000, blames Britain for encouraging small European states to
fight against unbeatable odds, and warns that London is trying to draw the
USA into the war.

The German raider Thor safely reaches Brest.  This concludes a 322-day
campaign, during which she sank 11 merchant ships and a British auxiliary
cruiser, and damaged two other auxiliaries.

As Bulgarian troops occupy Thrace, British Empire forces continue a
fighting withdrawal, under heavy attack by the Luftwaffe, which has virtual
control of the air.

A third air raid hits Plymouth.  The raids have destroyed many public
buildings, together with thousands of homes and businesses.
