I call the system using a Practical Peripherals 9600SA. All modems support V.42bis and are configured for it. The Problems ------------ The 9600SA and T1600 will not make a V.42 or V.42bis connection, but will make a MNP 5 connection. Both will make a V.42bis connection with other modems - just not each other. If I use the T1600 to call the USR, or vice versa, I get a V.422bis connection. Eventually, though, one of the modems locks (nothing comes or goes). This behavior has only been observed between these two modems. I have called the T1600 with other modems, with and without V.42bis, and everything works O.K. Therefore I conclude something is wrong between the two. Has anyone else observed this? Any answers? Do I just need ROM updates? The 9600SA has version 1.29. The T1600 has LA1.00. I spoke with USR - my modem is 1 ROM release behind. -- Dean Roth deanr@mixcom.com
