		The Lund C++ Seminars --- 13-14 June 1991

I am happy to invite you to the Lund C++ Seminars, an outstanding
event for anybody interested in the C++ programming language.
Several of the leading authorities on C++ will give their favourite
C++ seminar in a relaxed and non-commercial setting.

			Seminar Programme

Bjarne Stroustrup: inventor of C++. --- There are many ways to stack a
cat (this should be a talk on data-abstraction in different languages)

Andrew Koenig: well-known C/C++ authority with a column in JOOP.
--- An interesting C++ program (not only presented, but also discussed)

Michael Vilot: chair of the library working group of the ANSI C++
committee. --- Building reuseable components in C++

William M. Miller: vice chair of the ANSI C++ committee. --- Storage
management techniques in C++

Mike Ball: implementor of several (!) C++ compilers. --- Implementation of C++

Phillippe Gautron: specialist on templates and tasks. --- C++ task library

Richard Holman: the supervisor of the HP Softbench project. --- C++
development environments

Dmitry Lenkov: chairman of X3J16, the ANSI C++ committee. --- C++ debugging

Steve Carter: convener of WG21, the ISO C++ committee. --- C++ standardization

Jerry Schwartz: implementor of the i/o-stream library and well-known
opponent to multiple inheritance. --- TBA

Susan Waggoner: works at US West, a major user of C++. --- TBA

Martin O'Riordan: C++ implementor at Microsoft. --- TBA

Michael Tiemann: implementor of g++, the GNU C++ compiler. --- TBA

Note: The schedule is not yet completed, but the seminars will start

			C++ Language Overview

William (Mike) Miller from Glockenspiel and vice-chair of the ANSI C++
committee will also give "C++ Language Overview," a 4 hour
introduction to C++ for programmers not experienced in C++.  We hope
that you will be able to digest most of the seminars after this
introduction, which starts on Thursday morning at 8:30.

			How to get there, etc.

The seminars are free of charge, but we may have to cover the copying
costs for "C++ Language Overview".

Attendees should not register, will get no food, no drinks, no
T-shirt, no badges, no free software --- just C++ seminars.

Location: M-building, Ole Roemers vaeg 1, Lund, Sweden.  You may get
to Lund by car, train or plane.  The M-building is about 20 minutes'
walking distance from Lund town center.

				Background

The ANSI C++ standardization committee (X3J16) and the ISO C++ Working
Group (WG21) will hold their next meetings in Lund, Sweden, in June 1991.
As host of these meetings, I have asked some of members of the
committees to fly in a few days early to give a C++ seminar.

I'm very happy to see these people presenting their "talk of
preference" in Lund; I doubt that we will see such a group of highly
qualified speakers soon again.

In addition to these seminars, which are free, we will also hold
"Advanced C++", a 4-day course given by Jonathan Shopiro from AT&T Unix
Software Laboratories.  Dates: 4-7 June 1991.
