my system does the STRANGEST things when i try to "su" from the clam shell...
the result is completely unpredictable except that it doesn't work.  

my coherent version is 3.0.0 and the clam is 1.4.1 ...

anyone else had this problem?  it does very strange things... responding in
very wierd ways to what i type... sometimes i can't tell if i'm logged in or
not, sometimes both... very very wierd.
