I edited the Hosts file as per instructions (I think), but it doesn't seem to have any effect whatsoever. Here are the details: Mac SE, System 6.0.4, 3Com Ethernet card MacTCP 1.0.1 set to static address, nameserver filled in (and works), protected with AdminTCP. BYU/NCSA Telnet 2.3.2 Hosts file (relevant fragments): rs6000.cmp.ilstu.edu A 138.87.1.2 ilstu.edu NS rs6000.cmp.ilstu.edu foo.acs.ilstu.edu A 138.87.131.1 ; a real machine, not in the nameserver risc CNAME rs6000.cmp.ilstu.edu ; trying to create an alias Telnet to foo.acs.ilstu.edu and to risc results in "host not in Hosts file or a nameserver". I must be missing something simple, or this machine is completely screwed up... Please help!
