CNAME's must be fully qualified domain names. If you just want to
be able to use the single host name, make a CNAME to host.yourfulldomain.
Then, when the DNR goes to figure out what "host" means, it will tack
on the default domain extension.

Also, the Hosts file must be in the System Folder and named "Hosts".
