Message-ID: Date: 2 May 91 00:32:22 GMT Sender: news@swanee.ee.uwa.oz Organization: Elec Eng, Univ of Western Australia Lines: 20 Hi, I just gotten SOSS installed and running on one of our PC's. For of those of you interested SOSS allows a PC to act as a nfs server. The executables, etc. can be obtained from soe.sun.clarkson.edu in /pub/ka9q. However due to the packet limit of 512 bytes writing to our MOD drive is excruciatingly slow. Why is there a limit of 512 on the packet size? This seems to come from the PC/IP stuff. Is there a way of recompiling pcip so that the maximum packet size is greater than 512 (by changing some defines)? Or is there a reason for the maximum packet size being 512? For what its worth I have the sources to soss, rpc and pcip. If anybody can help I'd appreciate it. -- Dr. Roberto Togneri Phone: +61-9-380-2535 Dept. of Electrical & Electronic Engineering The University of Western Australia Fax: +61-9-380-1065 NEDLANDS WA 6009 Australia Email: robert@swanee.ee.uwa.oz.au
