A software package was posted to comp.sources.x from dbs@kodak.enet.dec.com 
(dan sears) entitled xtiff.  I needed to get more information from the author
about the package, but mailing to kodak.enet.dec.com came back from the
MAILER-DAEMON saying dbs was user unknown.

In the part01 header, he stated:
	xtiff has two chief limitations: its handling of the colormap can only
	be described as brutal and it does not attempt to display images that
	are deeper than the available visuals through dithering or median cut
	algorithms.

But it has a third limitation, stated in the README of the Xlib version:
	xtiff requires Sam Leffler's libtiff package
	which can be found on ucbvax.berkeley.edu

When I ftp'ed to ucbvax.berkeley.edu, I grep'ed around all of the directories,
but could not find a mention of a libtiff package.

Can anyone else help?  Can Dan Sears from kodak.enet.dec.com please get in
