Unfortunately, THIS ld was the 'bad' one! After playing around a bit, I was able to pull a 'good' ld off of the 3.51 foundation set, and everything works now. I still don't know why the ld on my development set is bad. It's about 20K shorter than the one on the foundation set. Anyway, everything works great now.
