It works ok for me.  Be sure you type user name "anonymous" (it's important
that it's spelled right), and your e-mail address as the password, which in
your case would be "barry@ucscloc.ucsc.edu"

If your terminal program supports macros, you might want to use two of them
for the above two strings.  This works well for me, since I almost always
do ftp from my Amiga.
