Sounds like I have just what you need.  I wrote driver routines for
the Super Serial Card (and compatibles).  They work without a hitch up
to 2400 baud (some people have had trouble with the routines working
at faster speeds--buffer isn't big enough).  Look for
pub/apple2/comm/sscdriver.bsq on tybalt.caltech.edu.
