One beholder was particularily hard when I fouught it so imagine a whole bunch of them. The only suggestion I have is to run away to a protected alcove and wait for them to turn around the corner. Gang up on one of them at a time. You might try using choking clouds to cover your flanks because there is always a cchance one of them will get stunned by walking in and you can clobber them there. One final point: a spellcaster can not use magic during a round if he is hit; once the beholder is hit he can not cast during the rest of the round.
