I've read and written Sun QIC150 tapes under A/UX using MicroNet tape drives
(Tandberg models) and software. A/UX (unofficially) supports Viper and Archive
drives so might work with Sun QIC150 tapes.

Under MacOS you need software to read the tapes. I don't know of any software
that reads straight from tape drives without expecting it to be in some
special archive format but such software probably exists. 

The easiest way is to network your Mac to a Sun or other UNIX machine that
uses the QIC150 format.
