In response to the same question I was directed to the April 15 issue of Info World. There is a "Mac News" section which has the information you seek. You won't like the prices quated, however. We'll have to see how much these upgrades will cost in the real world yet! The limitations of the LC are daunting. The ROM is crippled, and there is only 4 watts available to run a card on the direct processor slot. An 040-based card for the LC has been fashioned which draws 3.7 W. All this information is from the Info World article; I have no special knowledge, and the num- bers quoted may be fictitious. Any competent engineer could design a more robust power supply than the LC's for a negligible investment. I can only conclude that crippling the ROM and limiting the power avail- able is Apple's way of tormenting the consumer for purpose of maximizing profit. I make two observations: 1. That's a rotten way to deal with your customers, Apple! 2. Your low opinion of us is entirely justified. I just ordered an LC in full knowledge of your rotten attitude. Barnum was qualitatively right, though he could have benefitted from reading Malthus! That's why so many of us are sitting here rooting for NeXT to make it! Leigh Hunt Palmer
