When you do a "Get Info..." on anything in the finder, you can click it's icon and copy it. Or you can paste another icon from a different program in, or a PICT from the clipboard, scaled to fit. It's neat, but I personally haven't used it. I believe it works for any icon displayed in the finder: folders, files, and even volumes, except the trash.
