A company called Network Systems builds a HIPPI - VMEbus board. They are working with SGI and people at NCSA in Illinois to perfect an installation of the board in an SGI VMEbus backplane. I believe they expect to have it available sometime this summer. Of course, there's no way that a VMEbus installation could make use of the full HIPPI bandwidth but at least it's a connection. I think SGI is hoping for something around 80 - 100 Mbits per second throughput. If you're interested in HIPPI more than SGI, Network Systems has on the back burner a project to build a HIPPI interface to the 2.4Gbps backplane of Sun's new graphics engine, the VX/MVX system. Still vaporware unfortunately. Jim Symon symon@radonc.unc.edu symon@cs.unc.edu (919) 966-7710
