I have mixed feelings: 1) The interface is wonderfully intuitive - the program starts any graph by drawing a "rough" copy, and you refine the various elements of the copy by clicking on them and redefining them. 2) The graphs generally look very good. however: 1) The logical move of copying a graph to the clipboard then pasting from the clipboard into Word for Windows doesn't work. What you get is an image about the size of a postage stamp in your document. 2) The graph axis labels don't allow super and subscripting, and don't allow you to mix symbols and normal fonts in the same label. This makes the supplied symbol font useless, as no-one wants an entire title in symbols, but only wants to use the occasional symbol in conjunction with the ordinary fonts. 3) The program is supposed to be able to print out the values that you are graphing (entered by you onto a spreadsheet like array). The program however crashes on printout. The program appears to be have been written for Windows 2.0, and even comes with a run-time version of Windows 2.0. The current version of the program (1.3) looks like a very minor revision of the original Windows 2.0 program to make it behave as a Windows 3.0 application. I am hoping that Computer Associates will get their act together and make a version 2.0 of this program, as it has a lot of promise. -- Bruce Dunn Vancouver, Canada Bruce_Dunn@mindlink.bc.ca
