Well, if the device didn't work, you'd probably be laughed at a lot.  And there
do certainly seem to be a lot of antigravity and perpetual motion devices out
there that don't work.

   (Actually, I'm not trustworthy, what with being part of the NASA/Military
    organization which is actively surpressing UFO information.  At least,
    that's what the girl in the bar last weekend told me.  I told her that
    this government wasn't even able to keep secret the fact they were selling
    arms to Iran for more than six months, and I am supposed to believe that
    they have been keeping UFOs secret for twenty years?  Anyway, this topic
    should probably be moved to sci.skeptic or talk.bizarre)
