Are there any approximate rules of thumb for estimating magnitudes of orbital bodies? Will the free-flying cargo of STS-39 be visible to the naked-eye (assuming ideal conditions) or binoculars? - I can't answer the questions for myself yet, as I don't have the latest STS-39 orbital elements.
