hopefully this is the right place for this:  if not, i'll suffer
through the flames.  :-)

i've just compiled emacs-18.57 successfully on a sun4, and i'm having
a problem with X windows that i have not yet seen documented in either
the faq or the PROBLEMS file included in the distribution.  i can not
get it to load the x-mouse.elc file automatically (either from a
site-init.el file or from a site-load.el, or even my .emacs), so to
use it i have to explicitly type "M-x load-file /emacs-18.57/lisp/x-mouse.elc" 
to use the mouse menus (which autoloads from a site-load.el fine) or cut and
paste with X.

the error is:
...
Loading new-pascal.elc...
Loading x-mouse.elc...
Wrong type argument: integer-or-marker-p, nil
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `xemacs'
...

any ideas?
