I followed the installation procedure as documented and had no problem. On fonts: do you have them in the resolution required by the printer? If you have added new font directories, have you told it about them? (I'm still a novice myself--not as much as I was two months ago, but still a novice. I may have that wrong, but I think you have to tell it about new directories.) Hmmm. Actually, it looks like you may be missing something if you are trying to use it the way the authors have it set up: under tex:fonts, you need subdirectories for each resolution. And you need a huge pile of fonts by the time you count all the resolutions for printer (draft and final) and previewer, for use with various magsteps and point sizes... The fonts with the distribution just get you started and longing for more.
