Possibilities include:
1. You aren't using the user name 'anonymous', and your
   real id as the password (in your case, 'barry@ucscloc.ucsc.edu')
2. They banned you (I dont know if they do this at ab20, but
   it may be a possibility.) Did you upload a file which contravenes the
   MOTD rules?
3. The FTP server hates you :-)
