   Public Domain: Just that. The author has dropped all legal rights to the
software, and givin it to the public.
   Free Ware: The author reserves all commercial rights, but allows the
public to distribute it freely, so long as no $$ changes hands.
   Share Ware: same as freeware, except that people are supposed to send
the author X$, usually there is an incentive.
