   I talked to my friend with the Apple Cat and he says:
 
The Apple Cat modem can be made to run at 300 full-duplex, or 1200 half-duplex,
or at 1200 full duplex, if you have the additional add on card (1200 card).

   As I said earlier, good luck in finding the add-on card. ;)
