Make sure that the /etc/hosts file does not contain, at the 127.0.0.1
line the name you gave your hardware.

Make sure the /etc/rc.local is configured right, especially at the
/etc/ifconfig .... broadcast ... netmask

Theses are the obvious reasons I can see now.
