Berkeley -- ERL Lines: 22 I have a ~5 year old 12MHz DTK 286. I used to run Windows with 1 meg. It's tolerable for the applications that came with windows if you don't run that many. It was SLOW for MS Word. I recently upgraded to 2 megs and am a much happier user. I guess what it boils down to is what kind of software you'll run and how many applications you think you might want to run. Stuff like having pretty bitmapped images as backgrounds are definitely out for a 1 meg machine. Perhaps you should wait until 386 machines come down in price further. I've been told they should drop another 50% by the end of summer. If not, you should get at least 2 megs for the 286.
