I installed emacs 2.0 correctly and the mouse interface works. Then I decided to change the hostname to perseus. This is carried out by any of the following ways: 1. insert the line "hostname perseus" in /etc/rc.local 2. invoke netmanager and in the local menu, change hostname to perseus either of the ways will do what I want. Emacs then complained about the unknown host. So, I replaced the "localhost" in /etc/hosts by "perseus". It still didn't work. I tried again by replacing the "myhost" in /etc/hosts by "perseus". It still didn't work. Could someone furnish me with the change so that emacs will accept the new hostname. Thanks Johnson email address: c188-ap@volga.berkeley.edu
