I've held off buying my slab for this long; if the prices >go up any more, I'll have to start looking at Macs! (*shudder, groan*) > I just got back from tonites SCAN meeting (So. Cal. NeXT); the word from the next reps there (campus reps + 1 next employee) was: (1) There will be no price restructing on 10th of may, or any other time in the immediate future---this is an unfounded rumor. (2) NeXT did recently (a week or so ago) modify its prices as follows: * 17'' color monitor dropped in price by $1000 * 21'' color monitor dropped in price by $500 * the cost of the NeXTStation Color _computer_ (pizza box) increased in price by $1000 (so that a 17'' NS Color will stay the same price, and a 21'' NS Color will cost $500 more than previously). This brings the current price (edu discount) of the 17'' Color monitor to around $2150 (here at UCLA), for example. -- Barry Merriman UCLA Dept. of Math UCLA Inst. for Fusion and Plasma Research barry@math.ucla.edu (Internet)
