Personally, I think that's good. I use TeX on our VAXen, but I'm using OzTeX on my Mac at home to write my dissertation. I find that only having to deal with one interface is a good thing. Also, Textures isn't (or at least *wasn't*) able to produce DVI files that I could transfer directly to my VAX - OzTeX is. The fact that OzTeX is free played no part in this decision - Textures is available to me at work. I prefer OzTeX. Your mileage will vary.
