I am attempting to write some code for unix platforms(right now specifically Ultrix soon Sunos) and I need to read system errors. I understand that the kernel reserves a 4k circular area for reporting system errors in kmem. And I am wondering if anyone can help get my feet wet in this area. I have done some work with kmem. returned process info and the like. Am I supposed to read the messages from _msgbuf and How much am I supposed to read at a time? And where do I find the format for what the messages will look like when I do get them? Thanx in advance.
