This has already been done.  You can ftp it from
foobar.colorado.edu:/pub/Gnu-For-Pmax.  There are 2 versions of gcc
there:  one based on version 1.37.1 and one on 1.39.
I haven't had much luck with the 1.39-based one, but the other one
works fine.  They have unfortunately deleted the tar file, but the
patch against version 1.37.1 (available from prep.ai.mit.edu) is still
there.
