Well, smartdrv used to trash everything in my system, o I gave up on it long ago. Recently, however, someone pointed out there was a newer version of smartdrv on cica, so I got a hold of it, and it seems to (at least) not trash everything....on the other hand, it doesn't work totally, either. Here's what happens...I hope somebody will be able to suggest how to avoid this problem. I have smartdrv set up with 1024 and 256 memory (I have 1.5 meg extended memory). When I boot, the windows banner comes up and then leaves the screen, then the hourglass comes up in the middle of the screen, with the desktop wallpaper visible. That is as far as it goes. The hourglass is moveable around the screen (via my mouse), but no icons come up, or anything. If I disable smartdrv in my config.sys file, everything works fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks very much. Gerry ggreenbe@rodan.acs.syr.edu
