No, Tim, as far as I know I have not. But I have seen persons who happen to be deaf succeed in a number of "non-traditional" careers. Successful engineers and scientists, editors and authors, artists and actors, educators and administrators, even musicians and composers! Careers that could be considered even more challenging than cashiering at McD's. Deaf people can do anything but hear. Granted that there are serious deficiencies in our educational systems - but they exist for hearing as well as deaf children. I'm not persuaded that qualifying persons to be cashiers at McD's is a fully adequate educational objective - deaf or hearing. Good luck on your relocation. Keep in touch. ...
