For those of us who bought the U.S. (not Canadian) model of the Sony CDP-C100,
digital output, it seems, can be added with minimal hassle.  I just opened up
mine last night.  The service manual shows the digital out section for the
Candian model.  The PC board also has the traces and holes for the components.
All that seems to be missing are the components and jacks (optical and coaxial).

If anyone is interested in the part numbers/descriptions of the missing
components, tell me.  I have higher priorities than this now, but would be
interested in anyone's attempt to do this.
