In today's society, we are taught that women and men should be treated equally. That each should be given the same priveleges and rights. Indeed as I read 1 Timothy 2:9-15 it seems to run counter to my deepest sense of right and wrong. What is right ? What is wrong ? The most common explanation is that Paul is just a mysoganist and all his comments about women are just personal opinions and NOT inspired by the Holy Spirit. But if that is the case, what other things did Paul say that we can ignore ? - jon jm0h@ns.cc.lehigh.edu (Expires) jmoon@lehi3b15.csee.lehigh.edu (Jul1991) jon@home moon@work you@strange.places [The view that Paul hates women actually seems to be fairly rare, though I have heard it from time to time. More common is the concept that he is reflecting views of his culture on appropriate roles for women. I think most Christians, even those who don't feel bound by his arguments, understand that he considered women to be equally children of God. --clh]
