Actually, there are only six files whose names have to be shortened for 14-character filesystems: getdevicename.{c,h}, printprotoinet.{c,h}, and printsocktype.{c,h}. This is hardly a burden. You should also realize that kstuff contains more than thirty independent libraries. Someone porting the important parts---nlistlist, kmem, getuser, etc.---to System V can simply ignore the other libraries, and the filename length problem won't even show up. Apparently you'd rather bitch than contribute. Too bad. ---Dan
