 I suggest that you subscribe to the following e-mail list:

Its been awhile since I started subscribing to it, but I believe you would
subscribe by sending mail to:
    listserv%uccmvsa.bitnet@your-INTERNET-BITNET-gateway
 In the U.S., "your-INTERNET-BITNET-gateway" is often the hostname
  "cunyvm.cuny.edu".  I'm not sure what gateway host you would use from
   the UK.
   Leave the "SUBJECT" field of your letter blank.
   For the message text:
     SUBSCRIBE IR-L  first-name last-name

   Don't put a signature in your message text.  This list has occasional
   discussions of the type you are looking for, and the "listserv"
   software that drives it allows you to do subject queries on past postings,
   which are archived in a type of "database".

   I would also suggest that you write to SRI and get a list of their
   reports, as I believe they have done some work in the area of your
   interest.
