Something I have been wondering is what is the role of language in 
consciousness.  Language appears to be one of requirements, viz. the 
Turing test, yet looking at current linguistics literature shows that 
there is no concensus on what language is.  Reading Roy Harris' "The 
Language Machine" makes me wonder if language is a justification for our 
conscisousness...
