Message-ID: Date: 12 May 91 23:50:00 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Reply-To: Modula2 List Organization: The Internet Lines: 34 To all of you who are reading my requests for help on using compressed files in the comp.lang.modula2 newsgroup: please ignore any and all postings I have put on this list. I guess they are completely irrelevant to modula-2. I don't have access to news, Usenet or Internet, and I have managed to completely exhaust any other routes for help that I might have taken. I was hoping that maybe somebody else had been through this process and could give me some help. From the amount of nasty mail that I've been getting, I guess that isn't going to happen. So to all of you who think that my quest for assistance is irrelevant, please ignore my messages or help me out. That might shut me up. Otherwise, I don't think it's particularly helpful (or nice) to whack on me for making what I didn't know was a mistake. I've posted questions like these on the net before (to other lists), and the people there have always been helpful and friendly and haven't cared that what I was asking about was relevant to the "core" issues of the list. Pardon my naivete for thinking that info-m2 was the same. To avoid some misunderstanding, I guess I should say that I am on BITNET, and sending my notes to a mailing list. Most of the really flaming letters have been from people reading my stuff in the news. I DON'T HAVE NEWS. STOP TELLING ME TO LOOK AT THE vax newsgroup or the alt.files.com- pression or unix.wizards or whatever. I CAN'T. I'm just a comp-sci student at a small, private midwestern college with a single small VAX running VMS to play around with. We can ONLY access BITNET. I hope this clears some things up. I'm sorry to have WASTED everybody's valuable time. I already feel stupid enough for not being able to figure this out on my own. Thanks to everyone for making me feel like an imbecile for asking a question. nettled, ozymandias P.S. I don't think the question I asked about macOberon was irrelevant. Modula-2 is as close as you're going to get to Oberon, and I have seen many questions about it on the list before.
