The Why ship object files for which the source is available? It's just as (in)convenient to build the binaries from sources as from objects. Are the binaries really that large? My /bin is now 2.6 MB, with almost every file having full-featured (large) stdio and a symbol table. I remember when it was only 1 MB. However, the extra 1.6 MB is not large compared with the rest of the system, and small compared with my collection of binaries not in the distribution (9 MB). -- Bruce Evans evans@syd.dit.csiro.au
