Message-ID: <1991May12.173540.7753@minyos.xx.rmit.oz.au> Date: 12 May 91 17:35:40 GMT Distribution: comp Organization: VUT(RMIT), Melbourne, Australia Lines: 16 I have been doing some testing of select() calls on a number of machines, since it has different effects under different circumstances on some boxes. I have found that a simple select() from 2 named pipes on an Encore running System V R2.4 causes the Encore to crash. None of the system calls needed to set this up (open, select) return any errors, and one doesn't need to be root for this to happen. Exactly the same code compiles and runs without this effect on other machines that I've tried. If anyone knows why this might be happening, I would be interested to know. -- _--_|\ Craig Macbride / \ \_.--.*/ v
