[two points taken out of context] It may be worth pointing out that there exist backwards compatible versions of uu{en,de}code widely available. The Dumas version, which was designed for the ST but easily compiled on PC's, Unix boxes, and just about everything else, handles multi-part postings (not a hot issue with handheld users!) and adds a sequence check to the end of each line (this is ignored by standard uudecode). It also incorporates a method for handling munged characters, such as the backquote/space ambiguity. One version of the Dumas program is available by anonymous ftp from cs.dal.ca as pub/bio/uu.tar.Z if anyone is interested. -- William Silvert, Habitat Ecology Division, Bedford Inst. of Oceanography P.
