Summary: try Coretest at 1k-2k block size Message-ID: <1991May10.175458.1721@uncecs.edu> Date: 10 May 91 17:54:58 GMT References: <1991May8.144034.4330@hollie.rdg.dec.com> <22682@yunexus.YorkU.CA> Organization: UNC Educational Computing Service Lines: 10 Transfer rates in HD tests depend on block size. The version of Coretest that I have defaults to 32-64k block size. I believe that this is an unrealistic way to test hard disks, as programs often load in chunks of .5-2k. Why not re-run the test with Coretest, but specifying a small block size and then report the HD's transfer rate. -- Michael Volow, Psychiatry, Durham VA Med Center, Durham NC 27712 919 286 0411 Ext 6933 mvolo@ecsvax.edu
