Newsgroups: comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware Subject: POST error code 164... Message-ID: <13944@ur-cc.UUCP> Date: 10 May 91 05:21:17 GMT Distribution: usa Organization: University of Rochester, Rochester NY Lines: 21 I have a feeling the subject of PS/2 POST codes may have just been diskcussed here, but I can't find any of the back articles --> please forgive me if this has already been asked. The other day I installed a second 2MB SIMM in my PS/2 55SX, for a total of 4MB RAM. When I turned the machine on after the installation, it reported 3xxxKB OK (4096 - ROM/RAM area, or whatever) and then gave me code 164. What does this mean? I opened it up again and checked all connections, but the error persists? Is this something like "physical setup doesn't match firmware setup" and all I have to do is just run a setup-type program? Thanks for any help. -Chris -- >>>> Chris Newbold <<<< * "If you fool around with a thing for very long you * University of Rochester * will screw it up." * Disclaimer: "All warranties expire upon payment of invoice." ctne_ltd@uhura.cc.rochester.edu * uhura.cc.rochester.edu!ctne_ltd@uunet
