Keywords: Suitcase System 7.0 Message-ID: <2770@public.BTR.COM> Date: 11 May 91 21:01:27 GMT References: <3358@oucsace.cs.OHIOU.EDU> Distribution: usa Organization: Software Supply, Sunnyvale CA Lines: 23 Suitcase II 1.2.9 is nominally the 7.0-compatible version. I say "nominally" because some time between 7.0f2c2 and 7.0 final, a change was made to System 7 that causes the following problem: after opening a suitcase file and quitting the Suitcase II desk accessory, any attempt to use a resource in the file will fail, with results ranging from the unexpected (opening a DA in the suitcase causes a beep) to disastrous. If the file is to be reopened at startup (the default setting), it will open correctly at the next startup. So the workaround for 1.2.9/7.0 users is to immediately restart the Mac after opening a suitcase file or files and quitting the Suitcase II DA. Suitcase II 1.2.10 will fix this. An Updater application to update your version of Suitcase II 1.2 or later should be available on CompuServe, GEnie, America Online, and AppleLink some time next week. Anyone who wants to obtain it from one of those sources and post it to this net is welcome to do so. The Updater will probably be for a beta version of 1.2.10, as it will not yet have gone through the full test cycle appropriate for an "official" release. I am the author of Suitcase II. -- brecher@btr.com (Steve Brecher)
