I have a Release 2.0 cube with an attached Exabyte 8200 to which I'd like to be able to do unattended incremental backup (from that and other machines on a lan). My hope for "tar -rf /dev/rxt0 ..." faded after the GNU tar documentation explained that, with tar, most cartridge tape systems are unable to support adding to an existing archive. I'm told that even under messy-dos there exist drivers for the EX-8200 which support this. Does anyone know of other tape archive software for my application? Please reply by email to save bandwidth. I'll post a summary of replies if it seems warranted. Thanks. Tom Barton bartont@next2.msci.memst.edu
