Now what I want is not containing my footnotes within one column - I want to stop multicol _from_doing_just_that_! I use the fullpage document option, and PS-Times-Roman, twoside, and a few local macro packages that _ought_to_ add nothing in this context. Can anybody out there shed som light on this? Under what circumstances does this kind of thing usually happen? Also, why does \begin{footnotesize} ... \end{footnotesize} typeset with the same (it looks the same) \baselineskip as \normalsize?
