I had the experience to work with the ATT kernel debugger for 3.2. I found that most of the other developers where I used to work thought it was rather user hostile. It also lacked some features which (IMHO) I thought were badly needed. It is possible for someone to write their own kernel debugger and link it in with the kernel.
