Here's the restated problem and the solution: Zenith Z-248 (286) with > 6Mb ext memory, DOS 3.3. Symptoms: Message from smartdrv that no extended memory was available, Boot Okay, Norton shows 6656 extended memory, start windows, notice it comes up in real mode w/ little available memory, exit windows, Norton shows 0k extended memory. As if windows consumed the extended memory while trying to detect it... Many people suggested I insure himem.sys was in config.sys and it was. Solution: Use the correct version of himem.sys!!! I have all my drivers in c:\bin, windows installation put himem.sys in c:\. While cleaning up I wiped out the latest himem.sys and was loading an old version. :-( If you know someone with similar symptoms, this is bound to be the problem. Hope this helps someone else, Mike. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = Mike Collins | "Why would I want to change my = = New Mexico State University | mind?
